“A person who never made a mistake
never tried anything new.”
Albert Einstein
America needs to have World Class, well-educated work force. Education and continuing education programs are to provide students with exciting jobs that will put them on a path to fulfill their dreams. As America’s population grow to 400 million people, the work force increases by 95 million people from 160 to 280 million people.
U.S. Department of Education’s annual budget is $ 88 billion and operates programs that touch on every level of education. The Department’s elementary and secondary programs annually serve 50 million students that are attending 16,900 school districts with 98,000 public prekindergarten, elementary and secondary schools. In addition,4.9 million students are attending 28,000 private schools.
After graduating from high school, 20.2 million students are attending American colleges and universities, which is an increase of about 4.9 million from 15 years ago. Seven million students will attend 2-year institutions and 13.2 million will attend 4-year institutions. This translated into 17.3 million students enroll in undergraduate programs and about 3.0 million will enroll in post-baccalaureate programs.
There is a major problem with the existing education system. Half the students that graduate from college can’t find a job. Unemployment with minorities is estimated at over fifty percent. To make matters worse, tuition costs of colleges and universities have increased by five times in the last thirty years or 4.7 percent per year. and students are left with enormous college loans. Students need to have World-Class education.
Education-to-Career programs are needed where student, parent, educator & business programs work collegiately together. Students are mentored and provided opportunities to have a World Class education and empowered to live out their dreams. The educational programs may include formal education in the classroom, trade schools, or on the Internet plus extra circular activities.
Every American student has an Education to Career (ETC) Trust Fund before they start first grade. Each year as the student successfully passes from one grade to the next, the schools put funds into the student’s ETC Trust Fund. The funds can be used to purchase school supplies, take Internet education classes, or saved for going to college.
The ETC Trust funds are based upon the average student costs from the school district. The student’s ETC Trust funds could be invested in an Index Mutual Funds. During the twelve years that the years takes to get a high school education, the funds could double or triple to over $200,000. The student, parents, educator & business monitor the student’s ETC Trust funds.
If there are student’s ETC Trust funds remaining after graduating from high school and/or college, the funds might be used to help purchase home or retirement.
